We’re looking for a Supply Chain Manager to deliver the right product, in the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity at the right price.

Why is this role important at Automata?

As a Supply Chain Manager within our dynamic Global Procurement and Supply Chain team, you'll play a pivotal role in managing our US operations. This position involves overseeing the procurement of materials on both a national and international level, streamlining distribution, and optimizing inventory management. Your expertise will drive the success of our time-sensitive projects, necessitating strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to meeting tight deadlines. Our client projects are time-sensitive, so you will be working to tight deadlines within this fast-paced position. You will be responsible for inventory management, purchasing and distribution, reporting and critical path management for our hardware spend.

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead the end-to-end supply chain process, from procurement to distribution, ensuring operational efficiency.

  • Forge and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and external partners to enhance our supply chain network.

  • Collaborate across departments to solve challenges and improve operational flow.

  • Oversee inventory management, purchasing, distribution, and report on key performance indicators.

  • Manage import and export efficiency and costs through effective 3PL coordination.

  • Develop and maintain our stock and purchase planning systems, ensuring accurate reporting and analysis.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams - sales, finance and engineering drive alignment across the organisation.

  • Coordinate transportation, warehousing, and customer project activities to ensure efficient operations.

  • Manage the efficiency and costs of import and export of goods using a 3PL

  • To set up, manage and own the stock control system, purchase planning system and all associated reporting.

  • Forecast demand for products and materials to ensure adequate inventory levels without excessive holding.

What it takes:

  • Extensive Experience in Supply Chain Management: Demonstrated success in managing supply chains, with a strong understanding of procurement, inventory management, and distribution strategies.

  • Leadership and Decision-Making: Ability to lead a team, make independent decisions, and drive results within tight deadlines.

  • Negotiation and Supplier Management Skills: Proven ability in negotiation and conflict resolution, particularly with suppliers and external partners, to ensure cost-effective procurement and supply agreements.

  • Forecasting and Planning: Experience in forecast management and order book handling, capable of balancing supply with demand to optimize stock and costs.

  • Operational Efficiency and 3PL Management: Managing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of importing and exporting goods, including coordinating with third-party logistics providers.

  • Technical Proficiency in Supply Chain Systems: Competence in setting up and managing stock control and purchase planning systems, with a keen eye for detailed reporting and analysis.

  • Exceptional Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective verbal and written communication abilities, essential for cross-departmental collaboration and building strong stakeholder relationships.

  • Strategic Problem-Solving: Aptitude for identifying challenges within the supply chain and devising strategic solutions to improve operational efficiency.

  • Personal Accountability and Initiative: A 'can-do' attitude and a strong sense of personal responsibility for the success of the overall supply chain.

    Nice to haves:

    • Experience building from the ground up, including processes, systems and supplier relationships

      • Highly preferred: Located in greater Boston (US HQ) and willingness to work on-site during key builds

      • You enjoy the challenge of unfamiliar tasks, you are curious to learn and are flexible
