We are looking for a passionate SEO lead to own and drive Block’s organic growth, including shaping and executing on our SEO strategy from the ground up. Reporting to our Chief Operating Officer, this person will own both content and technical SEO, and collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Brand, Creative, Analytics, and Performance Marketing to build a world-class SEO machine. They will dive deeply into the home renovation industry to understand trends in organic search, identify pockets of valuable demand, and craft high performing content and pages to bring this demand to Block.

Candidates best suited for this role will enjoy a high level of autonomy to dig into ambiguous problems, shape solutions, and iterate toward business and user impact.

What you will do:

  • Shape Block’s SEO strategy and roadmap from the ground up, in collaboration with Block’s leadership
  • Analyze and understand organic search landscapes in our category to find meaningful opportunities to drive high-value traffic
  • Craft big swings to drive search performance, harnessing Block’s proprietary data, insights, and content
  • Execute on the SEO roadmap in rapid, iterative fashion, with a high emphasis on experimentation and learning
  • Work with Engineering to keep our site technically optimized for search performance
  • Understand and adapt to the evolving search landscape, including the impact of AI and ongoing changes to search algorithms

What we are looking for:

  • 7-15 years of SEO experience, including experience in B2C
  • Comfort with both content and technical SEO
  • Passion for deeply understanding consumer behaviors and needs, and crafting user-first experiences
  • Hunger to take big swings at ambiguous problems, experiment, and build iteratively
  • Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally, including with product / engineering teams on technical aspects of search performance
  • Equal strength in strategic thinking and hands-on execution

This is a full-time position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. Preference will be given to candidates who are enthusiastic to work a hybrid schedule based in our Brooklyn, NY office.

Block wants all employees to be supported in their personal and professional development, so we take a comprehensive approach to compensation and benefits. The initial annual salary for this position is expected to range from $120,000 - $155,000. Actual compensation will depend on numerous factors such as: experience, knowledge and skills, qualifications, location, and other job-related factors.
