Working in emerging markets is opening the door for us to have an economical impact on African markets by allowing businesses to pay suppliers and partners through our platform - we are currently live across Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Kenya, Benin, Togo, Congo Brazzaville, and Mali, with many more coming soon.
Our team is made up of approx 70 people across 8 countries; we are a group of a highly-ambitious, get-it-done people, who like to work hard on something that has a tangible impact in the world. And we’re looking for more people to join our team!
About the Role
We’re looking for a Payment Operations Associate to sit at the heart of our money movement.
This is a hands-on role for someone who loves the mechanics of payments: collecting funds from customers, routing payments through the most efficient rails, managing liquidity, and making sure money moves fast, reliably, and at the lowest possible cost.
You’ll work closely with our banking partners and internal teams to ensure our payment flows are smooth end-to-end — while continuously spotting ways to optimize collections, payouts, working capital usage, and routing logic.
Key Responsibilities:
Payments & Collections Execution
Own day-to-day customer collections and supplier payouts, ensuring funds are collected on time and payments are initiated accurately
Route payments through the most effective banks, currencies, and rails to optimize for speed, cost, and reliability
Ensure all payments are supported by the correct documentation and respond to bank queries as needed
Liquidity & Working Capital Optimization
Track cash and currency balances across accounts to ensure liquidity is always in the right place at the right time
Contribute to collection and payout forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities to improve our flow of funds
Support ongoing efforts to optimize working capital usage and reduce idle or trapped funds
Payment Issue Resolution
Troubleshoot complex payment issues end-to-end, working directly with suppliers, customers and banking partners
Identify root causes (routing, documentation, timing, compliance, etc.) and implement fixes to prevent recurrence
Bank & Payout Partner Management
Work closely with our banking and payout providers on daily operations
Support testing & ramp up of new banks or payment partners and help optimize existing relationships
Stay close to pricing, performance, and reliability across providers
Process Improvement & Payments Intelligence
Track and analyze payments KPIs (speed, failure rates, costs, liquidity efficiency)
Identify process, tooling, or routing improvements and help implement them
Contribute to one-off projects such as payment corridor optimization, new payment methods, or bank API integrations
Must-haves:
2–5 years of experience in operations, payments, fintech, consultancy or a related role, ideally in a high-growth startup or top-tier consultancy
Fluent in English
Highly organized and comfortable owning operational processes end-to-end
Comfort working with data (Excel / Google Sheets; SQL is a bonus)
You care about our mission and believe the current situation facing African businesses is unfair
Strong attention to detail, especially when money is involved
Problem-solver mindset with curiosity about how systems can be improved
Nice-to-haves:
Fluent in French
Experience with international payments, liquidity management, or treasury operations
Exposure to emerging markets, particularly Africa
Additional Information:
This is a full-time position with competitive salary, share options, and benefits
We require 3 days a week in the office in our London location (currently near Old Street)
-
Start date: March 2026 (we are aware people will have notice periods, or may be available earlier - start date can be flexible accordingly)
