Everyone should have the opportunity to own a home. But the system is broken. House prices have grown faster than incomes for decades, and thousands of people have been locked out of homeownership and the opportunities it can bring.

We’re rebuilding the homebuying process to make it simple, transparent and fair.

How? We’re building a seamless, end-to-end homebuying service to help more people find their place on the property ladder with flexible mortgages and fairer prices. We bring market-leading service, competitive rates and our own conveyancing to support everyone from first-time buyers to home movers and remortgagers – all under one roof.

The challenge is huge, and we’re looking for people who are passionate about delivering fantastic customer outcomes. Working at Gen H means proactively embracing new challenges, working comfortably with deadlines and taking initiative. We value honesty and humility, and thrive in a humble, low-ego environment.

Harnessing innovative tech and the talent of our smart, ambitious team, we’re building a fairer mortgage market. If you can help us move the dial, we want to hear from you.

Your mission

We’re looking for a thoughtful, innovative and experienced Head of Financial Crime Risk to develop the business's financial crime prevention muscle. Together, we'll push the boundaries of what's possible and redefine the mortgage experience for our customers.

Your role

  • Monitor and analyse AML and CTF trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks, and provide timely updates and recommendations to senior management and relevant departments.
  • Maintain and enhance the organisation's AML, CTF and anti-fraud training programs, ensuring all employees receive appropriate training and are aware of their obligations in preventing and combating financial crime.
  • Develop and implement robust AML and CTF policies, procedures, and controls in line with regulatory requirements, ensuring they are effectively communicated and understood across the organisation.
  • Ensure Gen H has effective systems and controls in place to identify, assess, monitor and manage AML & CTF risks and issues.
  • Conduct internal investigations and reviews as necessary, reporting suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities and taking appropriate actions in accordance with legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as Operations, Commercial, Legal, Risk & Compliance to provide guidance and support on AML and CTF matters.

  • Significant previous relevant experience in an AML & CTF regulatory compliance role in retail financial services
  • Served as an MLRO or Deputy MLRO or demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant AML & CTF legal and regulatory framework and guidance; including POCA 2002, Terrorism Act 2000, UK Money Laundering Regulations 2017, JMLSG Guidance
  • Experience communicating and interacting with regulatory bodies on matters relating to AML & CTF
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong demonstrable report-writing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct
